About
Jewelry by Osmo
Osmo is a craft of the moment. At the time of creation, the initial idea evolves through the gestures and the movements of the metal. Shaping her samples herself, the designer has learned to capture the instincts of raw material. With an attentive eye, with a soft hand, she guides without constraint the spontaneity of the mélites silver (later covered with 5 microns of gold to make vermeil) and the familiar unfolding of the hot wax. This is what gives her jewelry the appearance of organic enigma. They are raw and elegant, sincere and authentic.
With the ambition to renew the relationship between the stone and the metal, the gems are set in the body of the jewel using a flush setting : they seem to bloom from the pieces. But like skin whose beauty spots remain hidden, the Osmo jewels preserve hidden treasures, known only to those who wear them. Barely larger than a grain of sand that remains stuck on the skin, the fine stone lodged there and almost forgotten on the surface of the material, is in osmosis with the metal that welcomes it.
It is this intimate relationship between the jewelry and the person who wears it that the creator of Osmo, Violette Bacqué has wanted to create since her beginnings. Rings, earrings, bracelets, and necklaces enhance the grace of the neck and hand, highlight the earlobe, and gives back its agility to the wrist. This evocative word, Osmo, the name of an imaginary boy whispered softly in the ear.
The designer
Fascinated by the body, its ambivalent and ephemeral essence, Violette approached the visual arts through ceramics as a teenager. According to her, rough edges transcend standardized concepts of beauty and ugliness. To these sculptures, she added chains and other metal pincessamment. This is where the idea of jewelry was born.
At 19, the young artist moved to London to pursue a Bachelor of Jewelry at Central Saint Martin’s, prestigious fashion university. In the heart of the British capitales vibrant culture, she shared her passion with a community of emerging artists, each with their own ambitious and unique projects. The open-mindedness and support of her teachers helped her craft her works in the workshops. She initially considered jewelry as an artistic project, and then the brand idea emerged with the first prototypes of her collection.
In 2021, a trip to Jaipur, India, revealed the designer's vocation, and she chose the country to have her pieces crafted. The workshops of the world's jewelry capital are accessible and open to new projects. Jaipur is the home to some of the world's most talented artisans.
